On Tuesday 10 September from 19h30 RSC Belgium will hold a special event in the Brel Theatre at the British School of Brussels (BSB), Tervuren to celebrate two of its initiatives that aim to support young people studying chemistry and to deepen their interest in the chemical sciences as a career.

The event will be the prize giving event for our 2024 Chemistry Challenge initiative (link is to the 2023 results) for students in their penultimate year at high school and will also mark ten years of our Norman Lloyd scholarships at Cardiff University. The scholarships are awarded to a first-year student studying chemistry at Cardiff.

Our main speaker is Dr Thomas (Tom) Tatchell who is Education & Students Manager at the School of Chemistry at Cardiff who will talk about the impact of the Scholarships including contributions from the scholars themselves. Contributions from our section and from Norman’s family will also be made.

Tom will expand his presentation to cover the general area of chemistry and education, the current chemical sciences job market, and the changing face of chemistry with respect to future trends such as AI etc.

We hope that you will be able to join us for this event. The presentations will be followed by a drinks reception.

This event is free and open to all, but to comply with BSB security requirements prior registration is compulsory. You can register via this form: https://forms.gle/qswDBcJXBcoRoW518.

Registration will close on Monday 9 September.
