Abstract:

You may have heard that mitochondria are the 'powerhouses of the cell,' but did you know they are also key players in diseases like Parkinson’s and rare neuromuscular disorders? These tiny structures keep our cells running, but when they malfunction, the effects can be devastating. From movement disorders to life-threatening conditions, mitochondrial failure is linked to many diseases that affect millions of people. In this talk, we will uncover the hidden role of mitochondria in health and disease—and why scientists are racing to understand them better.
