The KVCV and the KNCV join forces for two online career events! The Chemistry Career Nights are aimed at (PhD) students, starters and young professionals in Chemistry & Life Sciences.

20 April, 19h00 - Career night on academia (In English)

Do you consider or aspire a career at university? Then this event will provide you a lot of usefull information!

  • The best approach for a successful publication
As a scientist you cannot avoid publication of your research. Therefore Leana Travaglini (Associate Editor at Wiley-VCH) will talk about her role as a scientific editor and she will give you a look behind the scenes of Chemistry - A European Journal.

  • How to climb the academic ladder?
Afterwards, both Richard Hoogenboom (Full Professor at Ghent University) and Timothy Noel (Full Professor at the University of Amsterdam) will take the virtual floor. They will both discuss the path to their current position, which made them cross the Dutch-Belgian border. As such, they are at an ideal position to talk about the similarities, and more importantly, about the differences in academia, between Flanders and The Netherlands. We are sure this will provide valuable information for young researchers which might consider a similar move beyond the country borders. There is not one single way to climb the so-called academic ladder. Richard and Timothy are happy to share their do's and don'ts with you.

After each talk there is the possibility to ask questions.

The evening lasts until about 21h30.

Register before Sunday April 18 via this form.

Important note: Both career nights are free of charge and only open to members of KVCV or KNCV.

More information on the second event can be found here.
