Speakers: Frédérick Warzée (DETIC)

Starting his career in scientific research, Frédérick Warzée turned to corporate communications. In 2004, he joined DETIC, an association of companies in the cosmetics sector, where he developed communications services. He set up a sustainable development department and, more generally, a corporate social responsibility department. As key spokesperson, he represents DETIC in relations with the authorities and stakeholders. Scientific Collaborator at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, he is involved in teaching cosmetic sciences as part of a specialised master's degree in cosmetology organised by ULB and Ulg. He takes part in various expert groups within Cosmetics Europe and the Global Cosmetics Cluster. Frédérick Warzée has also chaired the Belgian European Ecolabel Committee since 2015.

Abstract

Everyone thinks they know cosmetics, but nothing could be further from the truth. How are they defined? Are they safe? Do we really need them? How are they developed? What chemistry is behind these everyday products? Discover the cosmetics industry, a chemical sector that combines science and the arts, hygiene and beauty, environmental and social concerns.
