The CRISPR/Cas9 technology has taken the research community by storm since its first publication in 2012. This system offers an unprecedented genome editing efficiency and was awarded the Science breakthrough of the year in 2015. It has already been adapted for precision medicine, crop development and treating plagues but its potential goes far beyond. In this talk I will explain the basic principle and illustrate why this technology has so much potential. However, I will also cover the dark side of CRISPR/Cas9 and discuss why it has been called a weapon of mass destruction

The lecture will take place at the University of Antwerp, Campus Groenenborger, room V.008.

Attending the lecture is free for members of KVCV, member of KDA pay € 2 and others pay € 4 (payment cash on the spot).
